Life of the Buddha
Buddha means to be awake. But what was the historical Buddha? How did he awaken? And how did his teaching come to have such an impact on the world?
Ven. Sean will give an overview of the life and times of the historic Buddha Shakyamuni.
The First and Fundamental teaching of Buddha: The Four Noble Truths
Having awakened, the first activity of Buddha Shakyamuni, was to teach. He set off for the Deer Park in Sarnarth, near Varanasi (Benares) and there met his five former companions. It was to them he gave his first discourse: The Four Nobel Truths - The truth of dukka (A lack of satisfaction), its cause or origin, the cessation of dukka and the spiritual path leading to an inner contentment and ultimately an Enlightened mind.
Location: It is on-line via zoom.
Zoom details to be sent out probably 2 days before teachings. Details will be on registration documents forwarding asap.

The centre was set up in 2018 to encourage an interest in meditation, kind heartedness and clarity of mind – the seeds of happiness.
Traditional meditation methods set out clear instructions on how we can easily achieve these goals with the development of practice. Meditation develops a positive mind and eventually uproots the negative tendencies which lead to stress, anger and unhappiness. We learn to take responsibility for our happiness and take such understanding to all aspects of life. We feel confident to deal with whatever arises healthily ensuring we care for both ourselves and others.
